Artificial Intelligence is being integrated into the ELAK electronic file system, marking the first time AI has been embedded directly into federal administration files. State Secretary Alexander Pröll announced the tool will roll out gradually over the coming weeks.
The system utilizes the central sovereign AI infrastructure of the Bundesrechenzentrum. It features a chat function for operational support and allows employees to summarize content, extract information, and search shared online storage to identify relevant data.
Implementation is being coordinated with ministries and supreme bodies, with a full rollout scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. This integration enables staff to ask questions about specific files and access essential content in a structured way.
