AK and Bau-Holz Call for Insolvency Fund Hike

Union leaders urge a rate increase for the Insolvenzentgeltfonds following a Court of Audit report warning of a 2027 financing gap.

Arbeiterkammer President Renate Anderl and Bau-Holz Chairman Josef Muchitsch are calling for an increase in the Insolvenzentgeltfonds contribution rate. This follows a Court of Audit report warning of a 160 million Euro financing gap projected for 2027.

The fund, which covers salaries and holiday pay during insolvencies like Kika/Leiner or KTM, saw payouts rise to 306 million Euro for 24,000 applicants in 2025. Minister of Labour Korinna Schumann holds the authority to adjust the current 0.10 percent rate.

While the Court of Audit suggests increases are needed by 2027, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Federation of Austrian Industries reject the move. Secretary General Jochen Danninger opposes raising the surcharge, which was 0.55 percent in 2015.
