# Amazon Austria Implements New Package Tax

**Amazon** customers in **Austria** are facing higher costs following a new package tax effective since October 1, 2026. Standard orders now include a 2.40 Euro fee, consisting of a two-euro statutory levy plus 20 percent sales tax, listed separately at checkout.

While Subscribe & Save users are currently exempt, Amazon notified customers via email that the tax will apply to these deliveries starting in 2027. No specific date has been set for the change, which applies once per order regardless of the item count.

The tax targets large online platforms with Austrian sales exceeding 100 million euros, including **Temu**, **Zalando**, and **MediaMarkt**. This measure ensures that major mail-order companies contribute to the national levy based on their significant market presence.
