> Austria marks its National Day on October 26 with military displays and public tours to honor the 1955 Neutrality Law and independence.

**Austria** celebrates its National Day on October 26, marking the anniversary of the 1955 **Neutrality Law**. This date follows the end of a ten-year post-WWII occupation by the USA, Soviet Union, Great Britain, and France, which concluded earlier that same year.

The holiday became official in 1965 and a non-working day in 1967. It replaced previous observances like the Day of Liberation and the Day of the Flag. Under the 1955 treaty, Austria committed to permanent neutrality, barring military alliances and bases.

Today, the occasion features a performance show by the **Armed Forces** and the swearing-in of new soldiers at **Vienna**'s **Heldenplatz**. Public buildings fly the national flag while the Parliament and Federal Chancellery open their doors for public tours and visits.
