Austria Faces Delays in Free Vaccination Program

Supply chain issues stall 868,000 Influvac doses, forcing Austria to reschedule appointments and source Flucelvax to cover shortages.

's free vaccination program is facing delays after supply chain and production issues stalled the delivery of 868,000 doses. Currently, 667,000 doses have arrived, with 200,000 cleared in and 467,000 awaiting weekend safety checks.

SPÖ State Secretary Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig confirmed medical practices will receive supplies starting Tuesday, October 27. Logistics providers are rescheduling earlier appointments, while the remaining Influvac order is expected to arrive in early November.

To address shortages, officials purchased the Flucelvax vaccine for those aged six months and older. This move is critical as regular delivery dates for additional quantities are largely unavailable until late November, impacting the national health strategy.
