Employer platform kununu released its 2026 satisfaction atlas on September 23, analyzing 78,000 data points in Austria. Current job satisfaction stands at 54.9 percent, down from a 2022 peak of 62.5 percent but above the 2020 record low of 53.2 percent.
Salzburg leads the federal states at 58.8 percent, despite a slight drop from 2025. While Tirol and Steiermark saw increases, Wien fell to 53.6 percent and Kärnten dropped to 53 percent. The insurance, banking, and IT sectors report the most satisfied staff.
The data highlights shifting workplace sentiment across the region. Sandra Bascha, kununu's External Communications lead in Austria, notes that the national satisfaction rate of 54.9 percent remains notably higher than Germany's current 52.1 percent level.
