The Austrian Ministry of Justice, led by Anna Sporrer, has requested the Vienna Bar Association to examine disciplinary proceedings against lawyer Dieter Böhmdorfer. The request follows Böhmdorfer's allegations of abuse of office against judge Marion Hohenecker.
Böhmdorfer, representing former Finance Minister Karl-Heinz Grasser, based his June 2025 claims on forged emails from a 60-year-old informant. The Ministry asserts that Böhmdorfer's public statements regarding judicial leaks undermine trust in the rule of law.
The Disciplinary Board will now independently decide on potential penalties, which range from fines to removal from the bar. While Grasser faces a four-year prison sentence, the Ministry found no grounds for measures against its former judicial employees.
