Austria Sees 6% Rise in Community Service Sign-ups

Minister Claudia Bauer reports 12,900 registrations for community service following the Austrian government's recent service reform.

A total of 12,900 individuals registered for community service by September 30, 2026, marking a six percent increase over the same period in 2025. Data shows 1,327 declarations were recorded in August 2026, up from 874 declarations filed in August 2025.

Minister for Community Service Claudia Bauer, a member of the ÖVP party, will present detailed figures at a press conference on Friday, October 9, 2026. This follows an announcement by the Austrian government regarding a service reform agreement in July 2026.

The rise in registrations highlights the evolving landscape of civil and military service following the government's recent reform efforts. Minister Bauer's upcoming briefing will provide further insight into these trends and the impact of the new policies.
