# Austria to Launch New Warranty and Repair Laws

[Austria](<https://austriareport.com/entity/austria-q40>) will implement the **Warenreparaturrichtlinie-Umsetzungsgesetz** on October 1, 2026, introducing new warranty rules. Repairs within the initial two-year warranty period will extend coverage by one year, while repaired parts receive a new two-year term.

Manufacturers must repair items like smartphones, appliances, and e-bikes for a reasonable price after warranties expire. They are required to publish guide prices online, though consumers may still choose independent shops for any necessary maintenance.

A repair shop comparison platform will launch by July 31, 2027. While the law follows [EU Ecodesign](<https://austriareport.com/entity/ecodesign-directive-q3708955>) rules, the [Arbeiterkammer](<https://austriareport.com/entity/chamber-for-workers-and-employees-q872425>) is pushing for broader coverage of household tools and increased price transparency for spare parts to further protect consumers.
