# Austrian Fuel Prices May Rise 95 Cents by 2035

The **Austrian Economic Chamber** (WKÖ) is warning of significant fuel price hikes due to the **Renewable Energy Act for Transport** (EEG-V). A study by **Economica**, presented by economist **Christian Helmenstein**, predicts diesel could rise by 95 cents per liter by 2035.

The EEG-V mandates renewable fuel quotas of 18 percent by 2027, 35 percent by 2030, and 65 percent by 2035. These targets include biodiesel and electromobility, assuming a fleet of 25 percent electric vehicles and 75 percent internal combustion engines.

WKÖ Secretary General **Jochen Danninger** highlights the economic impact, as diesel may reach three euros per liter. The study forecasts a 0.3 percent GDP decline, a 0.56 percent drop in real wages, and a 0.72 percent decrease in consumption across Austria.
