# Austrian Household Assets Surpass One Trillion

The financial assets of private households in **Austria** reached a historic milestone, exceeding one trillion euros for the first time. According to data released by the **Oesterreichische Nationalbank** on Thursday, assets rose to 1,011 billion euros in 2026.

Bank deposits remain the largest component at 341 billion euros, or 34 percent of total assets. Equity holdings and securities each represent 24 percent. While the savings rate was 9.7 percent in 2025, the OeNB forecasts a decrease to 8.4 percent for 2026.

Household debt reached 214 billion euros by June 2026, following a period where housing loans stagnated in 2025 before increasing. At 21 percent of financial assets, Austria's debt ratio remains lower than the 26 percent average seen across the **Eurozone**.
