# Austrian Intelligence Warns of FPÖ-Identitarian Ties

August 26, 2026 at 03:55 PM

> State Protection officials report growing personnel links between the FPÖ and Identitarians, warning of radical ideological infiltration.

The Austrian State Protection service reports strengthening ties between the **Identitarian movement** and the **Freedom Party of Austria** (FPÖ). Current and former Identitarians now serve as parliamentary staff, creating a direct link between the New Right and the legislature. This personnel overlap allows extremists to access sensitive resources.

Authorities warn that Identitarian ideology is infiltrating established political institutions, as seen with the term 'Remigration.' While the FPÖ applies this to illegal residents, Identitarians target legal citizens. This shift risks normalizing radical narratives and moving the boundaries of socially accepted dialogue within the broader public.

Recent investigations into a violent attack on a taxi driver in Leoben involve leading Identitarians and individuals linked to the FPÖ environment. While immediate terrorist activity is not expected, officials observe an increasing willingness to use physical violence. The group prioritizes long-term ideological penetration over electoral gains.
