# Austrian Payment Delays Hit Record Highs

A new **KSV1870** study reveals that every fifth invoice in [Austria](<https://austriareport.com/entity/austria-q40>) is now paid late, an increase from one in six last year. Companies currently take an average of 29 days to settle debts, marking a four-day rise in the average payment duration over 12 months.

While private households improved their speed to 13 days, regional disparities persist. In [Tyrol](<https://austriareport.com/entity/tyrol-state-q42880>) and [Burgenland](<https://austriareport.com/entity/burgenland-q43210>), payments take 41 days. The federal government pays on time in 76 percent of cases, while state punctuality dropped from 82 to 79 percent.

CEO **Ricardo-José Vybiral** notes only 42 percent of firms rate their situation as good, a low since 2000. With 72 percent of companies requiring debt collection services, 30 percent of businesses expect payment behavior to deteriorate further through 2027.
