Billa Replaces Discount Stickers with Barcodes

Billa transitions to digital barcode vouchers and launches a price offensive on 3,000 products to match discounter market rates.

Billa is officially discontinuing the use of traditional adhesive discount stickers. Starting Thursday, September 24, the retailer will transition to new discount vouchers featuring barcodes that must be scanned by employees at the checkout for processing.

These new 25 percent vouchers automatically apply the discount to the most expensive eligible item in a customer's purchase. Shoppers should note that Clever brand products are excluded from this offer, though the system simplifies the overall checkout process.

In tandem with this change, Billa is launching a price offensive for 3,000 products this Thursday. The company plans to match discounter price levels and will perform regular price comparisons to ensure competitive market rates for its grocery inventory.
