Women must work 57 days longer than men to match their average annual salary. While the gap narrowed from 16.3 percent in 2025, regional disparities remain high. **Vorarlberg** has the largest gap at 21.7 percent, while **Vienna** reports the smallest at 10.6 percent.

**Austria** faces potential EU infringement proceedings over a delayed pay transparency directive. Social Minister **Korinna Schumann** proposed a draft law requiring income reports for large firms, but the government coalition has not yet reached a final agreement.
