October 24, 2026 at 10:13 AM

> The European Union will implement a 10,000 euro limit on cash business transactions starting July 10, 2027, to combat money laundering.

Starting July 10, 2027, the **European Union** will implement a **10,000 euro limit** on cash payments for **business transactions** involving goods and services. This regulation requires amounts exceeding the cap to be paid via non-cash methods, such as **bank transfers**.

The rules apply to single transactions and multiple partial payments that are linked. While private person-to-person sales are generally exempt, certain professional groups must conduct identity checks for occasional cash transactions starting at 3,000 euros.

Designed to combat **money laundering**, the law allows member states to set stricter national limits. Notably, bank deposits are exempt from the 10,000 euro cap, though financial institutions may still require proof of origin for large cash sums deposited.
