# European Gas Prices Hit Four-Year High at €100

The government is planning an **energy crisis mechanism** to cap electricity prices as poverty risks grow. Budget measures and rising costs are expected to increase the poverty risk rate to 15.7 percent, impacting low-income households ahead of the 2027/28 cycle.
