> New data shows 21 percent of Austrian students hold foreign citizenship, with Vienna recording the highest concentration at 38 percent.

The proportion of students with foreign citizenship in Austria has more than doubled over two decades, rising from nine percent in 2006 to 21 percent today. According to the Austrian Integration Fund, 238,500 of the nation's 1.14 million students are non-citizens.

Regional data shows **Vienna** has the highest concentration at 38.1 percent, while Lower Austria is lowest at 13.7 percent. Notably, 85 percent of Turkish and 79 percent of Serbian youth were born in Austria, whereas 93 percent of Ukrainian students were born abroad.

Linguistic and religious shifts are also evident, with 26 percent of students using a non-German colloquial language. In Vienna's public compulsory schools, 42 percent of students are Muslim, while 33 percent identify as Christian and 23.3 percent have no affiliation.
