# FPÖ Unveils Plan to Privatize Hospital Outpatients

September 10, 2026 at 03:14 PM

> Deputy Governor Manfred Haimbuchner proposes converting hospital clinics into private practices to optimize Upper Austria's health budget.

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, **FPÖ** Oberösterreich leader and Deputy Governor **Manfred Haimbuchner** unveiled the first phase of the 'Heimat braucht Haltung' campaign. The proposal seeks to convert hospital outpatient clinics into private medical practices.

The plan shifts outpatient responsibility to social security providers, with the state covering patient deductibles for private doctors. It also introduces 'Nursing-Only-Stations' for non-acute patients and utilizes practice rooms for night emergency care.

With healthcare consuming 1.72 billion euros of the 10 billion euro state budget, this initiative aims to optimize spending. The FPÖ will present two additional policy concepts over the coming weeks as part of their comprehensive autumn political strategy.
