Fridays For Future Austria Announces Rallies

Climate activists plan nationwide protests on Friday to demand sustainable mobility and government heat protection for vulnerable groups.

Fridays For Future Austria has announced demonstrations across seven federal states for this coming Friday. The main rally in Vienna is scheduled to begin at 14:30 at Praterstern, as confirmed during a press conference held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Spokesperson Veronika Müller advocates for sustainable mobility and opposes projects like the Lobau tunnel, A9 in Graz, and A26 in Linz. Activist Sofia Scherer notes that climate change causes alpine water shortages, requiring targeted aid for agriculture.

Volkshilfe Director Erich Fenninger reports that those in poverty face indoor temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius in heat-prone areas. He is demanding a government heat protection plan to address these risks as the climate crisis impacts vulnerable groups.
