Gewessler Demands Inheritance Tax in Vienna

Green Party leader Leonore Gewessler calls for a tax on wealth over one million euros while criticizing SPÖ and ÖVP economic policies.

Green Party leader Leonore Gewessler held a protest action in front of the Vienna Economic Chamber to advocate for an inheritance tax. During the event, she targeted SPÖ voters, claiming the party is currently too occupied with internal personnel changes.

Gewessler argued that the SPÖ failed to demand fair contributions from the super-rich while in government. She noted that social and family benefit adjustments are suspended, while the IV, WKO, and ÖVP continue to defend tax loopholes for millionaires.

The Green Party model proposes taxing inheritances exceeding one million euros, with rates increasing alongside the total value. This initiative aims to ensure the wealthiest citizens contribute fairly to the economy rather than relying on existing gaps.
