# Greens Call for Special Session on Climate Law

The Green Party parliamentary group has officially submitted a motion for a special session of the National Council. Following a Council of Ministers meeting this Wednesday, the session must be convened within eight working days to address climate issues.

Led by **Leonore Gewessler**, the Greens are demanding binding climate targets and more cooling options for the public. Gewessler criticized the ÖVP, SPÖ, and Neos, claiming billions are spent on highways while the proposed climate law lacks needed sanctions.

This move aims to protect the population from extreme heat and climate change consequences. The party is calling for additional trees in cities and municipalities, urging Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker and the ÖVP to prioritize environmental measures.
