The Institute for Advanced Studies () released a study Wednesday by researchers Mario Steiner, Nora Haag, and Maria Köpping. The team tracked 85,535 young people over 17 years to analyze how parental education and background impact career trajectories.
Data shows 65% of children with academic parents attend AHS at age 13, compared to 11% for those with parents holding only compulsory certificates. By age 22, 59% of children from tertiary-educated homes are in higher education, versus 11% for the latter.
Outcomes vary by school type and gender. Half of special school students are unemployed or inactive by age 23, compared to 11% from regular schools. Additionally, 32% of women reach tertiary education by age 22, while only 24% of their male peers do so.
