Influvac Vaccine Shortage Delays 2026 Program

Production issues and supply chain disruptions delay 868,000 flu vaccine doses, pushing some deliveries to late November 2026.

Approximately 868,000 doses of the Influvac vaccine for the 2026/27 public vaccination program are delayed. The manufacturer cannot guarantee the October 2026 delivery date, meaning large quantities may not reach medical practices until late November 2026.

The manufacturer cites production issues following WHO vaccine component updates and supply chain disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz. Health Secretary Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig noted that sites must not schedule appointments without confirmed deliveries.

The National Reference Laboratory at the Medical University of Vienna expects an early influenza wave, with cases already registered. As vaccines for children and seniors are prioritized, the Ministry is reviewing contractual penalties against the supplier.
