# Nine Percent of Austrians Plan to Start a Company

A recent survey of 1,500 people commissioned by the **Stiftung Unternehmerische Zukunft** reveals that nine percent of [Austrians](<https://austriareport.com/entity/austria-q40>) plan to start a company. While nearly one-third can imagine entrepreneurship, only a small fraction currently has concrete intentions.

Family background significantly influences these aspirations, according to the data. Among those with at least one entrepreneurial parent, 47 percent can imagine starting a business, and 18 percent have firm plans, doubling the rate of the general public.

**Markus Raunig**, chairman of the foundation, notes significant hurdles remain. Economic risk is the top concern for 23 percent, followed by capital shortages and bureaucracy, as nearly 80 percent of respondents prioritize security over new opportunities.
