> The Austrian Health Insurance Fund begins billing for non-acute patient transports conducted during the second quarter of 2026.

The **Austrian Health Insurance Fund** (**ÖGK**) is issuing approximately 87,000 invoices for planned patient transports conducted between April and June 2026. These bills, sent in tranches starting mid-October, apply to non-acute trips without medical urgency.

Costs are based on prescription fees, totaling 7.55 euros without a paramedic or 15.10 euros with one. Children and those exempt from prescription fees are excluded. A maximum of 28 trips are billed annually, with payments due within 30 days of receipt.

While time-critical transports remain free, these quarterly invoices reflect policy changes enacted in July 2025. Over 4,000 bills will be sent via **e-Zustellung**, and installment plans are available for any outstanding balances that exceed 151 euros.
