# Statistik Austria to Release October Inflation Data

**Statistik Austria** is set to release its initial inflation estimate for October this Wednesday. Recent data shows the national inflation rate at 3.6 percent, while the **European Central Bank** has opted to maintain current key interest rates for the time being.

National Bank Governor **Martin Kocher** notes that international crises, including conflicts in Iran and **Ukraine**, are impacting energy prices. While some forecasts suggest inflation could hit 5 percent, Kocher views a return to 10 percent levels as unlikely.

The ECB maintains a 2 percent inflation target, and Kocher indicates a rate hike in 2026 is probable if prices do not stabilize. Although **Christine Lagarde** has announced her resignation from the ECB, Kocher expects a decline in inflation by the year 2027.
