# Stocker Finalizes Social Assistance Reform

Federal Chancellor **Christian Stocker** of the **ÖVP** announced that the social assistance reform has been finalized and sent for review. The new policy ends unconditional social assistance, introducing a mandatory waiting period and integration requirements.

The reform is projected to generate 200 million euros annually, with 150 million from state savings and 50 million from increased labor participation. While it sets a corridor for states, it fails to unify the individual systems across the federal states.

Child supplements will now follow models from Lower and **Upper Austria** as a lower limit, with an upper limit below current **Vienna** rates. Stocker noted that benefits will be improved for single parents and people with disabilities to protect the vulnerable.
