Vienna Authorities Conduct Major Transport Raid

A joint inspection of 50 vehicles in Vienna led to one arrest and 76 reports for labor violations, forgery, and vehicle safety issues.

The Gruppe Sofortmaßnahmen, led by Walter Hillerer, conducted a joint inspection on Tuesday across Vienna's Neubau and Alsergrund districts. Alongside the Vienna Police, AMS, Taxi Guild, and Market Office, officials inspected 50 taxis, vans, and food delivery vehicles.

The operation uncovered significant violations, including one arrest under the Aliens Police Act and a document forgery case involving a taxi license. Authorities filed 76 reports for issues like invalid licenses, poor vehicle conditions, and uncalibrated taximeters.

One driver was caught working while on sick leave and must now repay thousands in benefits. The AMS filed 13 reports for labor violations, while other citations targeted missing fare displays, lack of local knowledge, and unauthorized trade practices in the city.
