Vienna Public Transport Fares to Rise in 2027

Wiener Linien announces annual inflation-based price adjustments for public transit tickets starting in 2027 following a 3.2% CPI rise.

Public transport prices in Vienna are set to increase in 2027 following a new annual inflation adjustment policy. Wiener Linien announced that ticket costs will now be updated yearly, mirroring models used by the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region and the ÖBB.

The consumer price index, which rose 3.2 percent between August 2025 and August 2026 according to Statistik Austria, serves as the basis for these changes. This follows a 2026 price hike, which was the first time the transit operator raised rates since 2012.

Potential price increases are expected to range between 10 cents and 1.10 Euro per ticket. While the indexation is confirmed, Wiener Linien stated that final details regarding the specific 2027 adjustments will not be released until the autumn of 2026.
