> Vienna's Josefstadt district will unseal 2,600 square meters of concrete to create a greener, climate-resilient square by summer 2027.

**Vienna**'s **Josefstadt** district will redesign **Josef-Matthias-Hauer-Platz** by summer 2027. The project, located where Josefstädter Straße, **Albertgasse**, and Skodagasse meet near **Café Hummel**, involves unsealing 2,600 square meters of concrete to improve the area.

The 4.2 million euro initiative replaces asphalt with light-colored, water-storing paving. Plans include 560 square meters of green space, 15 new trees, and green beds. Traffic changes involve a new two-way bike path and making Albertgasse one-way for cars.

Funded by the district, city, and federal government, the redesign follows a resident survey. While tram lines 5 and 12 remain, the Albertgasse stop will move 20 meters and become barrier-free, enhancing accessibility and local climate resilience by 2027.
