# Westbahn to Launch Vienna-Spittal Direct Service

> Starting December 13, 2026, Westbahn will connect Vienna and Spittal an der Drau with daily direct SMILE high-speed train services.

[Westbahn](<https://austriareport.com/entity/westbahn-company-q266280>) will launch a daily direct train service between [Vienna](<https://austriareport.com/entity/vienna-q1741>) and [Spittal an der Drau](<https://austriareport.com/entity/spittal-an-der-drau-q487500>) on December 13, 2026. Using SMILE high-speed trains, the route offers one daily trip per direction with a travel time of four hours and five minutes for passengers.

Tickets start at 18.99 Euro, and WestFixplatz online bookings include free seat reservations. [Klimaticket Oesterreich](<https://austriareport.com/entity/klimaticket-q108473137>) holders receive free seat reservations and upgrades to Comfort Class. Trains feature free WLAN, power outlets, and onboard WestCafes.

Managing Director **Marco Ramsbacher** noted this provides Upper Carinthia a transfer-free link to Vienna. Spittal joins Wörthersee and Klopeiner See as the third Carinthian lake region on the network, enhancing regional connectivity for southern Austria.
