is implementing new restrictions on e-scooter traffic in its city center starting September 7. Mayor Klaus Schneeberger announced that private and shared e-scooters will be banned from pedestrian zones between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily.
The regulation affects Neunkirchner Strasse, Herzog-Leopold-Strasse, Wiener Strasse, and parts of Hauptplatz. In Boheimgasse and near Dr. Adolf Schaerf-Haus, the ban is 24/7. During allowed night hours, riders must maintain a walking pace to ensure safety.
Violators face fines up to 726 euros under the Road Traffic Act. While cycling remains permitted in most areas, the city is now pushing for a resolution to require license plates and insurance for e-scooters following a May 2026 legal amendment update.
