The ApoDoc pilot project has successfully completed 481 teleconsultations across 15 pharmacies in Vienna and Upper Austria. Funded by the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists and Uniqa, the program offers pharmacist-assisted doctor visits via private screens.
Interim results evaluated by Paracelsus Medical Private University show a 96 percent satisfaction rate. Consultations, held on weekends with two doctors, resolved 89 percent of cases. Most visits led to e-prescriptions with wait times under 15 minutes.
President Ulrike Mursch-Edlmayr noted the service is up to 70 euros cheaper than other options. By diverting 24 percent of patients from hospital clinics, where visits cost 364 euros, the model offers significant savings for the Austrian healthcare system.
