The Austrian federal government, led by Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, has introduced a regulation setting daylight saving time dates for 2027 through 2031. Based on the Zeitzählungsgesetz, the measure aligns with EU-wide standards.
This regulation ensures the internal market functions through uniform rules. In 2027, the period runs from March 28 to October 31. By 2031, it starts March 30 and ends October 26. The European Union publishes these binding dates five years in advance for all.
While a 2018 vote and 2019 Parliament decision supported abolishing time changes, the European Council has not reached an agreement. A new study was commissioned in 2026. This current measure has no financial impact on any level of the Austrian government.
