Doris Bures, Third President of the National Council, warned that the SPÖ cannot continue as usual following poll results showing the party at 15 percent. She noted that these figures inevitably trigger both substantive and personnel policy discussions.
Trade unionist Beppo Muchitsch recently presented to the Group of Social Democratic Trade Unionists in the Construction-Wood Union. He assessed that the party suffers from a loss of trust and stated that leader Andreas Babler is not electable for many people.
While Bures did not name specific candidates for changes, Muchitsch listed a personnel realignment as a potential step. He emphasized that current internal consultations are focused on positioning the SPÖ to successfully win the upcoming 2029 election.
