Burgenland Sets New Data Center Regulations

Governor Hans Peter Doskozil announces ten new requirements for data centers, focusing on renewable energy and waste heat utilization.

The Burgenland state government, led by Governor Hans Peter Doskozil and Deputy Anja Haider-Wallner, adopted ten new requirements for data center construction. These rules mandate renewable energy use, reduced water consumption, and battery-based backup power.

Projects must now include waste heat utilization plans for district heating or agriculture. Additionally, developers are required to minimize soil sealing and provide concepts for subsequent land use. Governor Doskozil confirmed that active talks are ongoing.

The state also visited a new ME/CFS therapy facility in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Directed by Veronika Matzi, the state-funded project provides six weeks of documented treatment. Meanwhile, the sale of housing subsidy loans is set for completion by the year 2027.
