The Engelstor in officially opened as a new entrance to Schlosspark Schönbrunn on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Located closer to Kennedybrücke than the Hietzinger Tor, the gate provides access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles during park hours.
A new porter building was constructed based on a historical photograph to resemble a former guardroom destroyed in World War II. The site features a security bollard system and is staffed by the Bundesgärten to ensure safety and service for all visitors.
The 650,000 Euro project was funded by the Schönbrunn Group, Tiergarten Schönbrunn, and the KHM-Museumsverband. Officials including Klaus Panholzer, Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck, Johanna Zinkl, and Gerhard Schmid attended the opening of the strategic entrance.
