Nearly half of all summer travel complaints filed with the Chamber of Labor involved flight schedule changes and air travel issues. Data analyzed by the Association for Consumer Information shows Ryanair, Booking.com, and Opodo received the most complaints.
The Supreme Court recently ruled Ryanair's extra fees for airport check-ins, family seat reservations, and boarding pass issuance are illegal. Other airline issues included baggage problems at 15 percent, cancellations at 9 percent, and refund delays at 6 percent.
Accommodation issues made up 20 percent of inquiries, citing mold, pests, and missing sea views. With 95 percent of bookings made online, travelers also reported hidden rental car fees and unwanted Prime memberships on portals like Opodo during summer trips.
