FPÖ Leader Calls for Asylum Healthcare Limits

Udo Landbauer proposes restricting medical services for asylum seekers to emergency care to reduce strain on Austria's healthcare system.

Deputy Governor and leader is calling for significant restrictions on healthcare for asylum seekers and individuals without legal residence. He proposes limiting their medical services strictly to acute care and emergencies.

Landbauer cited data showing 33.5 million outpatient treatments for residents from nations like Syria and Afghanistan. FPÖ figures from Social Minister indicate nearly ten million treatments for specific groups occurred between 2015 and 2023.

The proposal aims to address what Landbauer claims is a direct link between immigration and the strain on Austria's healthcare system. He also criticized the current treatment of Lower Austrian patients in hospitals amid these rising service demands.
