Lower Austria Launches Wind Power Campaign

The 'Heimat sicherer Energie' initiative highlights how 2,400 megawatts of wind capacity supports local jobs and community projects.

Lower Austria has launched the 'Heimat sicherer Energie' campaign to highlight the region's wind power success. Running through autumn, the initiative features six visual subjects, radio spots, and social media stories to showcase local energy achievements.

The region currently maintains 2,400 megawatts of wind capacity, securing 3,500 jobs and 700 million Euro in annual value. President Josef Plank and Director Florian Maringer of WINDKRAFT Österreich lead the effort as wind power replaces older oil rigs.

Transitioning to wind energy helps mitigate the 14 billion Euro spent annually on foreign gas and oil. Local leaders like Mayor Albert Mayer and Helmut Arzt note that these revenues now fund vital community projects, such as renovating elementary schools.
