Ministry Launches Bildungskompass School Platform

Education Minister Christoph Wiederkehr introduces a new digital tool providing performance data and metrics for 6,000 domestic schools.

The Ministry of Education has launched Bildungskompass, a new platform providing performance data for approximately 6,000 domestic schools. Education Minister Christoph Wiederkehr and Section Head Martin Netzer introduced the tool, which currently features elementary school data, including student counts, class sizes, and IKM Plus results.

Users can search by location, school type, and travel time while viewing specific metrics like all-day care and quality seals. The platform compares school performance in educational standards and the Central Matura against similar locations. It also identifies schools in the Chancenbonus program, which provides extra staff for disadvantaged students.

While absolute test results are not published, the platform will expand to include other school types and customizable profiles next year. The Ministry opted against showing if schools exceed expectations based on student demographics. A final expansion of the digital tool is scheduled for the 2028/29 school year to ensure full transparency.
