The Neos political party has officially rejected a proposed bonus-malus system for companies regarding the employment of older workers. Social spokesperson Johannes Gasser stated the party opposes the model supported by the Arbeiterkammer and SPÖ.
Currently, Austria faces a 9.8 percent unemployment rate for citizens aged 60 to 64. To address this, Neos suggests a joint assessment center involving the AMS, ÖGK, PVA, and Social Ministry to better evaluate work capacity and streamline employment efforts.
The party also advocates for partial work capacity rules, allowing those with health issues to work limited hours rather than staying on rehabilitation money. Neos will now organize a parliamentary inquiry with experts to discuss these labor solutions.
