Tyrol Governor Anton Mattle of the ÖVP has launched an objective, open-ended price investigation into regional fuel costs. Supported by the Tyrolean Chamber of Labour, economics professor Gottfried Tappeiner will lead the analysis of the local fuel market.
The study examines Diesel and Super 95 price developments across Tyrol to see if regional differences align with objective cost factors. Researchers are analyzing procurement costs, international trends, and how quickly price changes reach the end consumers.
Mattle has requested a federal legal investigation under the Price Act to identify abnormalities. If irregularities are found beyond market-specific characteristics, the Governor stated he will take legal steps to address unfair pricing for Tyroleans.
