Energy provider Verbund is raising the price for its 'Österreich-Tarif' for new customers. The guaranteed electricity price for new contracts is now ten cents net per kilowatt hour for the first year, up from the previous rate of 9.5 cents net per kilowatt hour.
The 'Österreich-Tarif' was introduced by Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker's government in January 2026. While new contracts face the increase, existing customers retain the 9.5 cent rate for their twelve-month commitment. The price rises to 15 cents net.
Verbund head Michael Strugl confirmed the new conditions apply immediately to households and businesses. The majority state-owned firm's move follows price reductions by EVN and Energie Steiermark, while E-Control notes market rates as low as 9.1 cents net.
