Fabian Walch, an FPÖ municipal councilor and deputy club leader in Innsbruck, sparked controversy by posting a photo of a school list on Instagram. The list displayed first names like Leon, Miriam, and Mohamad, while surnames remained redacted for privacy.
Walch claimed the list represented a 2026/27 class, stating that without remigration, Innsbruckers would become a minority. He defined remigration as returning illegal or criminal foreigners. Tyrolean Greens leaders have now called for his immediate resignation.
The incident follows Walch's recent meeting with Identitarians in Germany. While FPÖ General Secretary Michael Schnedlitz previously called naming school children unnecessary, Walch defended his post but deactivated the comments section on the platform.
