Gerhard Zeiler to Challenge Andreas Babler for SPO Leadership

Former ORF chief Gerhard Zeiler announces a leadership bid for the SPO, proposing an economic growth plan and stricter integration rules.

Former ORF Director General Gerhard Zeiler, 71, has announced his intention to challenge Andreas Babler for the leadership of the SPO. Describing himself as a pragmatist to the left of the center, Zeiler aims to implement an economically oriented platform.

The candidate proposes a 'Bauchaufschwung' plan, prioritizing economic growth to sustain the social system. Zeiler intends to negotiate a new concept for Austria with the OVP and NEOS while requiring asylum seekers to learn German and obey all national laws.

Zeiler views his potential leadership as a transitional solution focused on bringing young people back into party functions. He maintains that criminals must be deported, emphasizing that integration requires strict compliance with Austrian rules and values.
