Contract manufacturer is reportedly close to signing production deals with Chinese automakers , its brand , and for its Graz facility. While Magna declined to comment on the speculation, reports indicate production for MG could begin in May 2027, with Changan models potentially following later that autumn.
The agreement could involve over 50,000 units for MG and more than 150,000 vehicles across six Changan models. Magna has already reserved logistics space for the second quarter. Additionally, a rumored joint venture with at the Hoce, Slovenia plant targets 100,000 vehicles annually, with full assembly starting by early 2029.
These potential contracts are expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs. The expansion follows a trend of Chinese brands entering European manufacturing, as MG has been Chinese-owned since 2007. Currently, Magna's Graz plant handles finishing for several major automotive brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Xpeng, and GAC models.
