Volkswagen's ID.Polo reached 30,000 pre-orders by mid-September 2026, following its June production start in Martorell, Spain. The entry-level EV is priced at 25,000 euros in Austria, competing with the Fiat 600e, Opel Corsa Elektro, and Hyundai Inster.
VW expects to save 600 million euros by sharing production processes for the ID.Polo, ID.Cross, Skoda Epiq, and Cupra Raval. Over 80 percent of parts are identical across these models, which are manufactured at plants in Martorell and Navarra, Pamplona.
The EV market is expanding rapidly, with T&E predicting a sevenfold sales increase for affordable models in 2026. In Germany, registrations rose 58.1 percent to 600,000 units by October, while Austrian electric drive growth hit 46.4 percent in August.
