The real estate market saw a significant surge in the first half of 2026, with 66,591 transactions recorded in the land register. This represents a 22.3 percent increase over the same period in 2025 and sits 6.1 percent above the ten-year historical average.
Sales revenue reached 19.59 billion euros, a 27.9 percent rise from 2025. This figure nearly matches the 2021 record of 19.61 billion euros. Lower Austria saw the largest absolute growth, while Styria led in percentage gains at 29.4 percent for the period.
The data marks the third-highest revenue on record, trailing only 2021 and 2022. Managing Director of Remax Austria Bernhard Reikersdorfer noted the activity occurred as temporary fee exemptions for most private land register entries expired in mid-2026.
